James has initially worked for 11 years with two of the Big 4 accounting/audit firms. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) where he worked for 7 years in Kenya, Zambia and United Kingdom (UK). He later joined Deloitte & Touche East Africa (Deloitte) where he worked in Kenya and Tanzania for over 4 years.

James is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) registered by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors Tanzania (NBAA) and a Tax Consultant registered by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA). He is also a member of the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).

James holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from University of Nairobi, Kenya.

James was a Senior Manager at Deloitte Tanzania, when he left in 2012 and co-founded Rook Consultants Ltd.
